TETRADURE® 300 (oxytetracycline) Injection features a
unique, concentrated 300 mg/mL long-acting formulation.
The patented composition and unique carrier are
different from any 200 mg/mL oxytetracycline product
on the U.S. market. TETRADURE 300 packs more
disease-fighting power in every dose to keep pigs healthy.
Quick response.
With TETRADURE 300, animal improvement is usually
seen within 24 to 48 hours of beginning treatment -
keeping pigs healthy, productive and profitable.
Maximum blood levels are achieved four to six hours
following administration, making a single injection
effective for acute infections.
Long-lasting therapy.
Studies have shown that when TETRADURE 300 is administered once intramuscularly to
swine at 9 mg per pound of bodyweight, blood oxytetracycline
concentrations of greater than 0.2 mcg/mL are observed for three
to four days. The long-lasting therapy of TETRADURE 300 delivers
the results you need in swine health.
A multi-use product you can count on.
Reach for the concentrated power of TETRADURE 300 in the
following situations:
Isowean pigs - Administer TETRADURE 300 to these high-risk
pigs to treat pneumonia caused by Pasteurella multocida and
bacterial enteritis caused by Escherichia coli. Use a blanket injection
to fight secondary bacterial infection on PRRS-positive operations,
or where systemic bacterial infections cause mortality and stunting.
Early finishers and gilts - Use
TETRADURE 300 as a highly effective first-line
therapy at the first sign of respiratory
disease.
Suckling pigs - Treat sows just before or
immediately after farrowing with
TETRADURE 300 to help control infectious
enteritis in baby pigs.
Breeding stock - Use TETRADURE 300 to
treat leptospirosis caused by Leptospira
pomona.
Unmatched convenience.

Saving pigs with TETRADURE 300.
Dr. Keith Aljets and his VMC Swine Management staff
manage more than 14,000 sows at several farms and
nurseries, where he has been battling secondary
bacterial infections to the Porcine Reproductive and
Respiratory Syndrome (PRRS) virus.
Aljets first tried feed and water antibiotics, but the
results weren’t satisfactory against infectious bacteria
like Haemophilus and Bordetella. "If a pig isn’t feeling
good, it’s not going to eat or drink," he says."We
were not getting enough antibiotics in pigs to help
fight these secondary bacterial infections."
Then Aljets turned to TETRADURE 300
(oxytetracycline) Injection.
"We see a reduction in mortality and morbidity
associated with common secondary infection
when systematically injecting PRRS-infected pigs
with TETRADURE 300."
-- Keith Aljets, DVM
Strategic injection program.
If Aljets and partners expect the PRRS infection,
they recommend a series of TETRADURE 300
injections. He emphasizes that optimal success is
found when treatments begin before acute sickness.
His recommended dosage: 1/2 cc at weaning, 1 cc
seven days post-weaning and 1 cc 12 to 14 days
post-weaning, using an 18-gauge by 5/8-inch to
3/4-inch needle. "What we’re trying to do is create a
15- to 21-day window where we know those pigs
have antibiotics at a significant level."
"My clients are really happy with the results of
TETRADURE 300 because we’ve been able to reduce
mortality associated with PRRS infection, which adds
to their bottom line," Aljets says.
"The longer duration of
TETRADURE 300 allows us to prolong the
level of antibiotic in the blood, which has
helped us reduce secondary infections,
including Pasteurella multocida."
